Blazer Jobs is actively seeking an experienced School Social Worker for a full-time role with school districts in the Aurora, CO area. This is a great opportunity to work in a supportive and dynamic school environment while making a meaningful impact on students' social and emotional development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and group counseling services to students to address social, emotional, and behavioral issues.
- Conduct assessments to evaluate students' needs, strengths, and areas for improvement.
- Develop and implement interventions to support students' emotional well-being and academic success.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to create and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
- Offer crisis intervention and support for students in difficult situations.
- Advocate for students' mental health and social needs within the school community.
- Lead or participate in meetings with students, families, and staff to discuss concerns, progress, and strategies for success.
- Provide resources and referrals for additional support services, including mental health, housing, and family assistance.
- Maintain confidential records and documentation related to counseling and social services provided to students.
Qualifications:
- Masters degree in Social Work (MSW) or a related field.
- Must hold a valid Colorado School Social Worker license or be eligible for licensure.
- Previous experience working as a school social worker or with children in a school setting is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of social work practices, child development, and crisis management.
- Ability to work effectively with students, staff, and families from diverse backgrounds.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Compliance with all local and state requirements for school staff (background checks, clearances).
